The ‘tech’ in your pocket – Friend or Foe?

The issue of teenagers and technology has hit the news in recent times, particularly around the impact that it might have on their mental health and the quality of their sleep. At the ELT (Education and Leadership Trust), we embrace the use of technology in the classroom, with two of our schools being BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) environments. About The Answer in the Room

We are keen to develop ways to share ideas within our Academy Trust and beyond. A blog to which all staff could contribute, both teaching and support staff seemed an ideal mechanism for this. Rather than one voice, we could capture many and begin to reflect the wide variety of skill and expertise we are lucky enough to have access to through our staff within the Trust.

No Pens Day

At Whalley Range, students are already given many opportunities to develop ‘presentational talk’, but this year we have focused on developing what Voice 21 have coined ‘exploratory talk’. Through the development of oracy in the curriculum, students have been engaging critically and constructively with others’ ideas in group discussion with an emphasis on replacing more informal language with standard English.
